Hello there,
I started this forum in an effort to promote the many & varied traditions of North Antrim and also to learn more about them, myself. Being a Traditional Musician for many years, I find I am interested in all manner of traditions & the ways our forefathers did things.
If you feel you have knowledge of the history or traditions of this area, that you would like to share, or if you would simply like to actively discuss any of the topics posted here, please register and join in. I hope you enjoy your time on this Forum and I look forward to reading your contributions to the discussions here, and getting to know you.
Please take a few minutes to say hello here & perhaps tell us a little bit about yourself & your area of expertise or what you hope to learn about during your visits to this forum.
As a member you now have access to the Calendar, so please check that out & if you know of any local events which need a mention there, please post them on the Calendar.
As for me, I've been playing Traditional Music, Irish & Scottish, for more than thirty years now, mostly on Fiddle, but I also started playing the Hammered Dulcimer about five years ago, after learning that Co Antrim is the home of Hammered Dulcimers in Ireland & that Hammered Dulcimer players were in fact an endangered species, here, in Co Antrim.
About that time I also became very interested in Old Time Appalachian Music, so I find myself playing a lot of Old Time Music on my Hammered Dulcimer.
To learn more about my world of Traditional Music please visit my own website:
'Causeway Music' where you will find a large section on Dulcimers and pages on Old Time Music & Scots-Irish Music too.
Cheers
